Greetings.
I am Korea Communications Commission Chairman Sang-hyuk Han.

I sincerely welcome all of you to the International Broadcasting Co-production Conference 2022.

This event feels even more joyful and meaningful as it is the first time in three years since the pandemic that we can meet in person.

I’d like to sincerely thank President of Korea Educational Broadcasting System Kim, Yu-yeol and Vice President Drama of ZDF Studios Robert Franke for giving today’s keynote speeches. I’d also like to thank Commissioner of National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) of Thailand Pirongrong Ramasoota for attending the Country of Honor session, My thanks also to guests from Switzerland, Canada, China, Japan and other countries, as well as participants from academia and content production industry for attending today.

The main theme of this year’s conference is “Time to Meet and Create Again!” During the pandemic, we experienced how precious meetings truly are.
We arranged today’s event to discuss new alternatives to promote content co-production through the meeting of ‘mutual growth’ and ‘cooperation.’

In the field of broadcasting media and content, the borders between countries and the boundaries between media and technology are coming apart.
In a rapidly changing media environment, I believe broadcasting co-production is an effective measure to promote broadcasting content production and distribution.

To this end, we have prepared a variety of programs for this year’s IBCC. First, we have invited the Korea Educational Broadcasting System and Germany's ZDF Studios, which are active in co-production, for the keynote session. We have invited Thailand, a country with which we are working to conclude a broadcasting co-production agreement, to the Country of Honor Session, to further advance cooperation and exchange in broadcasting content between our two sides.

Furthermore, we will hear from experts on the topic of ‘What and with Whom Can We Create Together?’ There will also be roundtables on the topics of ‘The Challenges & Promotion of International Broadcasting Co-production’ and ‘The Future of Global Collaboration that MZ Generation Creates.’

The KCC selects and awards excellent cross-border co-productions every year to promote co-production of broadcasting content. I would like to sincerely congratulate this year’s winner, EBS's 'Beasts of Asia', selected for its high level of quality and contribution to international exchange, and the other winners as well.

Broadcast co-production programs are based on trust between countries,
 and are the result of financial cooperation and  sharing cultural values.
I hope co-production will be a valuable opportunity for increasing overseas
expansion of content and securing Hallyu’s leading place in the global market. 

The KCC will actively support co-production between countries through
projects to support program production support.
I ask for your continued interest and participation in this endeavor.
